No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists, like GPs, are first-contact practitioners and experts in their fields. A GP referral is only required should you wish to make a claim via the Medicare EPC Program or via DVA. Your GP will advise you if you are eligible for this
No! Your physiotherapist and yourself are the best people to assess whether you would benefit from physiotherapy. Unfortunately, sometimes people are advised by others with a poor understanding of what physiotherapists do to wait or not to seek the help of a physiotherapist, when this is what they need most to recover from their injury. We are happy to liaise with your treating physician or specialist where appropriate.
Yes, if you have physiotherapy extras. Dynamic Health Physiotherapy has HICAPs on-the-spot claiming facilities available for your convenience – so you only need to pay the gap fee if there is one. We welcome all health funds.
At your initial appointment, your physiotherapist will take a detailed history of your current injury and past conditions and perform a thorough clinical assessment. After diagnosing your condition and discussing it with you, the physiotherapist will treat you using relevant physiotherapy techniques and formulate a tailor-made plan with you for management and optimal recovery.
Appointments are usually about a generous 30 minutes of 1:1 contact with your physiotherapist. For complex or multiple areas of injury your physiotherapist may recommend a longer appointment at your next visit.
Please bring your X-rays, scans or reports relevant to your current condition. Bring your health fund card if you wish to use our HICAPS on-the-spot claiming facility.
Medicare EPC patients: are required to bring their valid referral and Medicare card.
TAC/ VWA/ DVA patients: please bring proof of your valid claim.
Patients on full aged pension: please bring in your concession card with CRN number to receive a concession rate.
For Physio Gym/ Clinical Pilates: please bring a water bottle and hand towel
For physiotherapy consultations please wear comfortable and easy to remove clothing. Bras with a clasp at the back are the most convenient. And please wear underwear!
For Physio Gym/ Clinical Pilates – comfortable work out gear is fine. Do not wear anything too restrictive or too baggy. Socks are a must for Clinical Pilates – Grip Socks are available to purchase at the clinic.
